What is Mentoring?

Mentor: An experienced and trusted individual who acts as a teacher, advisor, counselor, instructor, tutor, or trainer.

Mentoring: A collaborative relationship between mentors and coaches, focused on encouraging personal growth and development, with a shared goal of improving player development and the enjoyment of the game.

Mentoring Involves: Offering coaches ongoing coaching education and support.
Benefits of Mentoring: Mentoring equips coaches with the necessary skills, resources, and support to fully understand all aspects of coaching.

Program Expectations

On-Ice Support: Building a close relationship with the coach and their team, having conversations, identifying opportunities for growth, and enhancing players’ skills. Collaborating with coaches to create a personalized development plan.

Addressing Skill Weaknesses: Actively working on improving players’ skills and providing hands-on support.

Practice Planning and Skill Development: Assisting coaches with practice preparation and skill development drills to ensure that coaches feel confident and well-prepared to cover all critical areas of player development.

Game Support: We can attend your team’s games if requested, offering feedback and assistance in areas of concern.

Regular Interaction: Working with each coach and players once or twice a month, with flexibility for more frequent visits if needed.

Continuous Feedback and Support: We are available by phone or email to address any questions or concerns coaches may have throughout the season.

We are committed to sharing experiences, knowledge, and recommendations based on practical observations during practices and games with coaches at all levels. Together, we aim to foster a culture of learning and growth for all coaches and players within your association.
